Who we are
The Flow Driver app is run by Get Flow Industries (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2026/506089/07 (“we”, “us”), of 656 Wildpear Crescent, Thorn Valley Estate, Johannesburg, 1508. We handle personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
Drivers use the app on behalf of the transport company they drive for. That company decides which loads you carry and can see the records described below for its own loads.
What we collect
| Information | Why |
|---|---|
| Your name, phone number and the company you drive for | To sign you in and show you your own loads |
| Your PIN | To sign you in. It is stored scrambled (hashed); nobody, including us, can read it |
| Photos you take of Bills of Lading, tank seals and delivery notes | As the record of what was loaded and delivered |
| At each delivery, the name and signature of the site manager who received the fuel | As proof of who received the delivery and who delivered it |
| Your phone's location, once, each time you swipe "I've arrived" at the terminal or a customer's site: the position, how accurate it was, and whether it came from a fake-GPS app | To confirm you were at that place, so the delivery record can be trusted. Your company sees whether each arrival was confirmed, and how far away you were if you arrived without it |
| Problems you report, with any note or photo | So your operations team can deal with them |
| The times you sign in and complete each step of a load | To keep the delivery timeline and keep your account secure |
| If you allow notifications, a code that identifies your phone to the notification service (a push token) | To tell you about a new, moved or cancelled load. It is removed when you sign out |
| If the app crashes or hits an error: what went wrong, the app version, your phone's model and Android version, and your driver ID (not your name, number, photos or signatures). Sent to Sentry, the service we use to collect crash reports | To find and fix the fault |
The app reads your location onlyat the moment you swipe “I've arrived”, and only while the app is open: it never tracks you in the background or between stops. An arrival needs location allowed; where your phone can't find its position, “I'm here, location won't confirm” records it, marked as not confirmed. The app does not collect your contacts or anything else from your phone, and it uses the camera only when you tap to take a photo.
Who we share it with
- The transport company you drive for, and the fuel supplier and customer on each load, see that load's records.
- Service providers that run the app for us: our servers and database (Railway), file storage (Cloudflare), an AI service (Anthropic) that reads the litres and product from your photos so you don't have to type them, crash reporting (Sentry), and notification delivery (Expo and Google Firebase). They may process information outside South Africa, under agreements that require them to protect it.
We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Delivery records (the photos, readings, signatures and arrival locations of each load) are kept for seven years, because they are financial and tax records. Your account details are kept while you drive for a company on Flow and removed twelve months after your account is closed; anything that is part of a delivery record stays with that record.
Keeping it safe
Information travels over encrypted connections. On your phone, your sign-in is kept in Android's encrypted storage. Photos are stored privately and are only shown through short-lived links to people allowed to see that load.
Your rights
Under POPIA you may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email info@getflow.co.za. Our Information Officer is Elli de Gouveia.
If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change affects what we collect, we will tell you in the app first.
